imagine if you woke up one day, and you were back
in fourth or fifth grade, and everything that had
happened in your life was really just a giant dream
from the overactive imagination of a ten year old.

i'd live my life out, making all the same choices
as i dreamt, because if i didn't i wouldn't be here
right now. i might not be standing on this roof with
three of my best friends, i might not have
met you, i might not have broken my arm, i might not
have mourned (ever), i might not have turned out to be me.

i have often pondered this possibility, or some like it.

"if i had it all again, would i change it all?"

"if i had another chance, would i make the same goddamn mistakes?!"

or is what we call human nature actually human habit?

I think lots of people wonder that.

This girl that I know, her name is
Danni, she once asked me to write
her a letter. A letter about what
I would do if I had another chance
in life. Well, I fretted over it
for what felt like weeks, who
knows, maybe it was; I have a
problem with the concept of time.
I came up with endless different
situations, creating and crumpling
up over forty letters, until I
finally realized that I couldn’t
bring myself to change a single
thing. It took that letter for me
to realize that the real
definition of mistakes was nothing
like the one I’d created in my
mind, and that good times are
really the best regrets.

and that could be me, finally
realizing for myself: human
nature. or, learning from others:
human habit.

sounds like a book to me.

maybe we should become joint writers. i'll purchase a two-story from gavin in london. trick out the garage with a half-pipe, plenty of guitars and gear, and a squid tank.

we fill the house with cozy arm chairs and firewood, and throw ourselves into work. recluses with mean streaks, known to emerge every few months to paint the town red and terrorize the little children.

:-)

it probably could've been one.
but, i wouldn't want it to be.
it'd be stuck in the self-help
section, and i don't think i'm
really fit to help anyone...

now, that sounds pretty good,
including the mean streak. but,
can we have some starfish in the
squid tank?! i like starfish.

i'm a bit of a mess though, just
so you've been forewarned. i do
hope you don't mind. :]]
